Getting Started: Creating Your First Bot
Creating your first Chatbot on the QuData platform.
The QuData platform provides a no-coding experience of building bots. To start the process of creating your own chatbot, you only need to have an account on the QuData platform. Log in and enjoy the new experience.
To start creating a bot, go to the main screen by clicking on the logo or on the All bots button in the sidebar.
There are two ways to create a new bot on the QuData platform:
- Creating a bot from scratch
- Creating a bot based on a ready-made template
The first method #Creating a bot from scratch suits those who need a custom-tailored bot made for unconventional tasks. The second way #Creating a bot based on a ready-made template works for those who would rather use a ready-made solution and avoid extra efforts.

Creating a bot from scratch
On the main screen, click on the card
Blank bot to create a bot from scratch. In the pop-up window, specify the Bot Name and Description (you can change them later) and click the Create Bot button.
That's it! Immediately after creating a bot, it will open in the bot Editor.
Editing the first bot
Your bot will consist of dialog steps. The content of the steps can be really diverse, because the editor has a rich toolkit providing for significant flexibility in bot development.
Later you will learn how to use various built-in features such as Google Maps, file sharing, email collection, operator connection, and much more. These extra features don’t require technical proficiency on your side. Meanwhile, try and add a new step to your bot. Just hover the cursor over the MAIN step and click on the
button as shown below.
You have added the second step to your bot. On the left, you can see the editor panel for the current step, featuring all its entities and their properties. In the editor panel, click on the step name and rename it to New Step.
Return to the MAIN step and try changing the message to: Hello! What a wonderful day, right? Below in the text properties you can change its color and alignment.
Then customize the button. Click on the button and change the text to: Yes, that's right! Below, in the button properties, specify the step that the bot will navigate to when the button is pressed: in the Step field, input the name of the second step, New Step, and press Enter. On the workspace, you will see an arrow linking the two steps.
Switch to the New Step and add a new entity, for example, any image. To do this, in the editor panel, click on
as shown below and select the image entity.
Then click on the
button to upload the image. In the pop-up window, upload any image from your device and confirm the action. You can delete the text above the image or change it to your preferences.
Change the text on the button below the image to Go Back, and input the MAIN step in the properties.
Your first bot is ready for testing!
To start the bot, click on the RUN BOT button or on the chat button in the bottom right of the screen. Once the chat is launched, click few buttons to make sure your bot works properly.

Creating a bot based on a ready-made template
On the main screen, open the Templates section for a range of ready-made solutions. To check the functionality of the bot templates, chat with them by clicking the Play button.
Select the template you like and click the Clone button. In the pop-up window, specify the name of the bot (you can change it in the future) and click the Clone bot button.
Congratulations, your first template-based bot has been successfully created!
Once a bot is created, it will open in the bot editor, where you can make changes and test them right away. To learn more about the editor toolkit, try to complete a small introductory task #Editing the first bot.

Design and integration
Before making the bot available to the world, you can customize your unique chat design. Read more about how to do this in our article Qubot Customizing. An example of how to customize the design can be found in the second part of this video QuBot chat builder tutorial: how to set up a chatbot and customize its design.
After configuring and testing your bot, you can go on and deploy it to make it available to your users around the globe. In the developer console, select the Integrations menu item, where you can see the list of all channels (platforms) where your bot can be hosted, and external services that can be integrated into your bot.
